FBLA is holding a Charity Roast in partnership with Hillcrest. The school’s coffee shop, Common Grounds, is providing coffee to sell at Hillcrest and the FBLA annual bingo night, through The Roasterie.
“Every time you buy a bag, a part of that money goes to FBLA and the other part goes to Hillcrest to help their mission,” junior Patrick McCool said.
The Hillcrest organization is a transitional housing program that helps homeless families become self-sufficient.
“The coffee will be sold at Hillcrest and I believe at the [FBLA] bingo night, which will be January 25,” McCool said.
The FBLA Bingo Night is another fundraiser in partnership with Hillcrest being held in the school cafeteria. On Jan. 25 the school will be open from 6-8 p.m. and is a cash-only event. At the door, the price for an individual will be $5 and the price for a family will be $15.
“Hillcrest holds a bingo night every year and I think this is the first one since COVID, so we are helping them put it on,” senior Jackson Edwards said.
FBLA wanted to hold a fundraiser with Hillcrest to help them with their mission as well as bring in extra donations by selling coffee.
“One bag (of coffee) is $20, it is good coffee for a good cause,” Edwards said.
A custom roast was made for the charity event called the “Coming Together” roast. In addition to the coffee being sold at Hillcrest Thrift Store and Bingo Night, FBLA members will also have a sign-up sheet to get a bag of coffee.
Visit the Bingo Night charity event on Jan. 25 or purchase a bag of coffee to support Hillcrest and the FBLA students.
