On Feb. 5 the Platte County FBLA team went to the University of Missouri – Kansas City for FBLA Districts. Seventy-five members competed throughout the morning and some of the afternoon and 50 have advanced to the state level. The competitions ranged from coming up with business plans to public speaking.
When they first got to UMKC, they had a meeting detailing the times and the details of this year’s event then they went to prepare for the events. FBLA works by going to a different room for preparation and then you go to your designated room. Where you compete in your respective events
Different people had different experiences in FBLA districts.
“My experience at districts was a good time just walking around the college campus.” said Junior Ethan Smith “I’m going to state for help desk and cyber security test. The cyber security test is just a multiple-choice test and the help desk is a role play for an IT professional.”
Everyone has their own skill set and FBLA helps you find that specific skill and really hone it in.
“It was a new experience since it was my first time in FBLA, I didn’t know what to expect, but I had a great time,” said Junior Aiden Garcia “ I got second in business ethics and international business. Which means I’m going to state.”
Members who qualified for state competition will compete April 14 -16 in Springfield, Missouri.
