Excitement was in the air as everyone piled into Union Station and next to Sixth Street and Grand Boulevard. The excitement rose through the air as the time ticked down before the parade started. Everyone was anxiously waiting for the buses to drive by them and see the popular faces of Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, and Patrick Mahomes.
There were more teenage girls at this parade than in years past hoping to see Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The whole time before the start of the parade people were wondering if Taylor was going to ride the bus with Mama Kelce and Travis. Unfortunately for the swifties, she had a show on Feb. 16 in Australia.
The swagger was different from years past this year it was mostly chiefs gear. The weather was warmer than in years past which also affected how many people go to the parade. The streets were more crowded than ever before. It reminds people of the 2015 Royals parade for just the amount of people in Union Station and the surrounding areas.
During the parade, it was wild and the players were going nuts. Wide Receivers were walking around just showing off after a rough season. The fans were going crazy. They were throwing friendship bracelets at the players and hyping them up. Some of the players were almost falling off the buses. The players were grabbing the reporter’s microphone and talking about how much they were having fun and hyping the crowd.
When the parade reached Union Station it got crazy.
Then when it came time for the speeches at Union Station, the mayor talked about how much he loved the city and the Chiefs. Then Gov. Mike Parson got booed when he gave his speech. Then the cheerleaders did a quick dance. After that, Retired Navy Petty Officer Geranal Wilson sang the National Anthem. Mitch Holthus gave a quick word and Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt talked about how proud he was of Chiefs Kingdom. President Mark Donavan came out to give a speech before the whole team came out and Big Red Andy Reid gave a few words before Travis Kelce started singing “I’ve got friends in low places.”
At the end of the rally, a turn of events caused confusion and chaos as there was a shooting killing one and injuring 22. Arrests have been made on four of the suspected shooters.
