1.Bevo-UT Austin
A live longhorn omits so much power and aura over its opponents. There is no other mascot that is beating this in a fight. They can weigh up to 1200 pounds, easily enough to crush any of its enemies. If it was simply a costume the longhorn itself is still a cool mascot, but the fact that they bring a live longhorn , shows the schools ability to bring energy to all of their games.
2.Uga-University of Georgia
In a similar style to Bevo, the live mascot is always going to have an advantage to a guy in a costume. This bulldog has also been attacked by Bevo UT’s mascot and lived. The mascot also is driven around in its own car, which once again demonstrates the schools ability to go above in beyond.
3.Bill the Goat-USNA
The history behind this mascot is fascinating. In the early days of the US Navy, goats made the best companions on ships, due to their smaller size, and ability to produce milk for the crew. There are few mascots that have this amount of relevant history to the school. There would be no better mascot for the Naval Academy.
4.Ralphie the Buffalo-University of Colorado
Sticking with the live mascot theme, the buffalo is a pretty cool mascot. The fact that they bring a real bison on the field, is just sick, and it is pretty self-explanatory as to why.
5.Joe Vandal-University of Idaho
A vandal as a mascot, is a unique and creative idea. The mascot itself wears a viking helmet, and rather than simply being a viking, he is instead a vandal. A vandal is obviously someone who vandalizes, giving it an excellent meaning in the context of sports, to go in and beat the other team.
6.Sparky the sundevil-Arizona State University
A sundevil is a highly unique mascot, I have never heard of any other educational facility containing a sundevil as a mascot. The trident that he carries is also pretty cool and is a relevant prop to the mascot. Arizona is also known as being one of, if not the hottest state in the US, so the fact that it is a sun devil is relevant to the state.
7 . Brutus Buckeye-Ohio State University
While this mascot is simply a nut, what it lacks in style, it makes up for in its notability and practical use. Brutus Buckeye is an infamous mascot that is extremely well-known even among nonsports teams. A buckeye tree is also the state tree of ohio, meaning it has the history needed to be a great mascot.
8. Pistol Pete-OSU
Pistol Pete fits Oklahoma’s environment. Its history of cowboys is truly shown by the mascot. And its revolver prop is great, capable of intimidating any team
9. The Oregon Duck-University of Oregon
This mascot is always filled with energy and really brings fun to its games. Its cartoonish look has a great effect on the crowd, and everyone seems to appreciate its lively moves.
- West Virginia Mountaineer-West Virginia University
This mascot is more than just a suit and involves a well-coordinated costume. He carries a rifle, and it makes sense that West Virginia would have a mountaineer due to the mountainous region within the state.
