With the new class of ‘29 entering the school, lunch shift sizes have increased even more since last year, resulting in what some would call an “overpopulation” in the lunch room. Students have had trouble finding seats, monitors have had a difficult time getting students under control and the lunchroom is running short on food.
With roughly 1,370 students to fit into only three lunch shifts, organizers have had a difficult time distributing an equal and balanced number of students per period.

“There are too many people in [A lunch,]” said junior Maddie Zirkle. “I think it’s difficult to find a seat.”
A new tradition has also been established, in which Assistant Principal Dr. Mandi Tolen loudly announces, “Attention Pirates!” to which all students must be quiet and listen to her message.
It is not 100% efficient to get at least 450 students quiet in the span of seconds, with some days taking as long as a couple of minutes just to get to a somewhat quiet volume to speak over.
“I think it’s a little silly. That’s kind of a lot of people to get your attention from,” sophomore Beckett Norris said. ”I don’t think [that it is necessary].”
