Last year Platte County girls’ volleyball played St. Michael the Archangel ending with a win taking them into the final 4 for state. This year the school came back for revenge with both teams playing their best on the court, and it left everyone in the stands questioning who would win.
With a winning streak before this game, girls volleyball lost to St. Michael the Archangel, with the final score coming out 1-3. The team shared their opinions on how the game went and what could have been done to prevent a loss ending that winning streak.
“The game was stressful. I feel as a coach or a volleyball player we have to control our mood in situations because it can reflect on the team as a whole. It was a loss, but overall we take it to learn from it and we grow better,” said senior Tatianna Murray.
Even though everyone has an individual responsibility, the players can encourage their teammates on and off the court to show support.
“On the court or not, it’s good that everyone is involved and keeping an upbeat attitude, cheering on and supporting the team,” said sophomore Taylor Stamm, a junior varsity player. October 22-25 volleyball will play St. Michael the Archangel’s again to place in districts. With the two teams both winning games against each other, the pirates are confident in the way the game will play out.
“We’ve beat everyone in our district. We look forward to districts this year and seeing them,” said Murray.
