With holiday drink menus being released at numerous coffee shops across the country, people have been rushing to go get their seasonal favorites. With places like Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Dunkin’, and PJ’s, it can be hard to pick a favorite, but the love of a festive drink is able to ease the tension.
Whether it’s adding a festive flavor to a year round go-to, or getting a special drink off of a seasonal menu, some people are set in stone on their fun festive drinks.
Junior Addie Ayers orders the sugar cookie almond milk latte from Starbucks, with oat milk and sugar cookie cold foam. Ayers said she gets the drink at least once a week, and feels a strong connection with it.
“I used to get it with my mom a lot,” Ayers said, “it’s just been a tradition every year.”
It’s said that great minds think alike, and the same is true when it comes to coffee. Senior Breckyn Whitton also orders the iced sugar cookie almond milk latte with cold foam, but adds the “little sprinkles”. Whitton admitted that she gets the drink every other day, and looks forward to ordering it.
“It makes me feel maybe, joyful and delightful,” Whitton said.
While there are several delicious premade orders, there are many places you can also make your own using some specialty festive flavors. From Starbucks, these can include peppermint, pumpkin spice, chestnut, sugar cookie, and gingerbread.
Senior Myah Harris said she “usually orders Chai lattes with pumpkin spice added to it.” Harris said the reason why she orders the drink is because it always tastes good and it’s good to have a “fun little drink”. Harris said where she gets the drink from ranges, “I get it wherever I can, like from here I’ll get the chai latte and just add pumpkin to it, or I’ll go to Starbucks or PJ’s, just wherever they serve coffee.”
Some people, though, like to go all out when it comes to festive drinks.
“I like anything with peppermint in it, or pumpkin or really anything,” sophomore Keegan Julian said. “Honestly, I just go for everything. l like trying everything new, but I’m allergic to tree nuts. So whatever I can try, I try.”
Julian said as soon as the drinks are out she goes to whatever store it’s in, and gets a drink every other day. Julian added that she gets the drinks, admitting the drinks make her very happy, that being why she orders them all.
