Though it may be their final year in school, the senior boys aren’t done dancing just yet.
Continuing a cherished tradition, the senior class teamed up with the Treasures dance team to create a special Homecoming performance. Each year, a group of senior boys is chosen to choreograph a routine alongside the dance team, showcasing their moves for the entire student body during the Homecoming assembly.
The process of creating the routine began weeks in advance. The senior boys worked closely with the Treasures to design choreography that combined each boy’s unique strengths and styles. Starting with brainstorming sessions, the group experimented with different dance moves, formations, and music choices. They aimed to create a routine that was both fun and impressive, reflecting their personalities and the energy of the senior class.
Rehearsals took place from 8 to 9 p.m. in the North Gym for the first week, allowing everyone to learn the steps and refine the timing. The final two rehearsals were held at the Fieldhouse, allowing the group to practice on a larger stage and become more comfortable performing in front of an audience.
“Choreographing was a real team effort,” senior Jack Coon said. “We had to be creative and work together, especially since some of us had solos being assigned to us minutes before the performance. It was all about supporting each other and having fun.”
For many of the boys, the dance was more than just practice—it became a highlight of their senior year and a memorable way to bond.
“I love seeing the senior guys dance and have fun doing what they love. This may be their last year here, but it’s definitely not their last dance,” junior Havyn DeGrave, a three-year member of the Treasures, said.
The routine featured a mix of upbeat hip-hop moves and synchronized group formations, ending with a celebratory pose that brought the crowd to their feet.
