Starbucks is known for very popular seasonal drinks such as the Pumpkin Spice Latte or Peppermint Mocha. There are menus for the fall, winter and spring each with very different drinks.
But what is widely considered the best season? In a survey sent out to the student body, the fall menu is the most popular with over 43% of the students picking fall as their favorite menu with winter being only a little behind fall with 39% of the students picking it. Spring is last at 18% of the students choosing spring as their favorite.
Of the most popular specific drinks from the same survey the Pumpkin Spice Latte and the Pumpkin Chai were the most popular with both having 13% of the students choice. The Peppermint Mocha follows with 6% of the students choosing it as their favorite. The Gingerbread Chai is in third with 4% of the vote. Tied for fourth/fifth is the Sugar Cookie Latte and the Creme Brulee both with 2% of the students choosing it.
Outside of the top picked drinks most everyone had a very specific favorite such as the Caramel Ribbon Crunch or the refreshers.
“My favorite season is definitely winter, because I love all of the like, winter vibes, you know, the peppermint,” said Sophomore Sara Mohammed-Amin. “My favorite Starbucks drink is the sugar cookie frappucino.”
Sophomore Katherine Jones said “[my favorite drink is] Peppermint mocha frappuccino. And I really like, I feel like, between the winter and fall season, because I can’t really choose between the peppermint and the caramel.”
Both of them agreed that they wished the seasonal menus stayed around longer so they could get their favorite drinks year round. “ Like in the summer, when they have all their summer drinks, I’ll be craving a winter drink,” said Mohammed-Amin. She continued “ So I wish that, like you could kind of, like, still order seasonal drinks, but I guess that kind of sucks the fun out of, like, it being seasonal.”
Jones expanded stating she wished there was more diversity in the drinks. “ I wish they had more variety, like they do in other countries, like Japan.” Jones said.
The fun of the seasonal drinks have downsides but for most people it is something to look forward to for their favorite drinks to come back. Whether for the fall or the spring Starbucks has people excited for their menu changes every season.
